Call Don’t Cry
Because what you say could save a life
Learn how to show up when it matters most…
We run monthly community workshops that give ordinary people the confidence to support someone in crisis — calmly, safely, and without fear of saying the wrong thing.
about us
about us
Too many of us want to help a struggling friend but freeze, worry about saying the wrong thing, or don’t know where to turn.
Call Don’t Cry is a movement to change that. Our workshops are built to equip communities with simple, practical tools for noticing the signs, starting the conversation, and guiding someone towards the right support.
Founded by Kayode Damali, Call Don’t Cry is shaped by personal experience of mental health challenges and a belief that ordinary people — with the right skills — can make an extraordinary difference.
Why This Matters
When someone is struggling, the first person to notice isn’t usually a professional. It’s a friend, a parent, a teammate, a colleague.
You’re the one who sees the changes in mood, in person or online. You’re the one they might reach out to late at night. In that moment, you are the first responder before the first responders.
Services like Samaritans and the NHS do vital work, but they’re under heavy demand — and too often, by the time someone reaches out, it already feels too late.

Each month we host a 2-hour, stigma-free session open to anyone who wants to feel more prepared when someone they care about is struggling.
You’ll learn how to:
- Recognise the red flags that someone might be in crisis.
- Start the conversation without fear of saying the wrong thing.
- Stay calm and keep boundaries, even in tough moments.
- Know the safety steps when risk is present.
- Signpost clearly to the right services.
- Follow up in a way that feels natural and supportive.
Format:
. Interactive and practical (no lectures, no jargon).
. Delivered monthly, in person and online.
. Accessible for all — you don’t need prior training or experience.
